Art in Roman Ephesus reflected a combination of Hellenistic and Roman influences. Sculptures, reliefs, and frescoes often depicted gods, emperors, and mythological scenes. The Temple of Artemis contains some of the finest examples of ancient art, including sculptures and reliefs honoring the goddess. Public spaces and private residences throughout the city were decorated with works of art that demonstrated the wealth and cultural sophistication of its inhabitants.
